Engineered Wood Floors

Engineered wood flooring is the most widely used wood flooring in the world and this is due to the fact that it is the most durable wood flooring. It is also cheaper than the other types of wood flooring that can be used. What makes engineered wood flooring so durable is the fact that it is layered wood flooring. What is meant by this is that the individual planks of the wood flooring consist of different layers. There are usually two or more layers; the lamella and the core. The lamella is the part of the plank that will be seen once the wood flooring has been installed and is adhered to the core.

There are a couple of different types of engineered wood flooring that one can choose from, most of them are completely made of wood while another is fused with an acrylic adhesive. All these types of engineered wood flooring are sawn wood which means that they are not cut with a rotary.

The other type of wood flooring that one can choose is the solid wood flooring which is mainly for the aesthetic look of it. Solid wood flooring requires very high maintenance as the most expensive type of wood flooring. There are a couple of things that one has to keep in mind when deciding on engineered wood flooring as a floor covering option. The first thing is that these engineered wood floors can scratch very easily and although they are very durable are not suitable for households with pets and small children. To maintain these engineered wood floors it is relatively simple. One should always make sure that chemicals are never used as a cleaning method on these floors as it can eat away at the wood and damage it.

A bucket with clear water is sufficient to clean these floors with. Spills on the wood flooring should be mopped up immediately as to prevent the staining and or swelling of the wood. If there are gaps noticed in the wood it should be dealt with immediately as it can become harder to fix once dust and other dirt particles collect in these gaps. It is also a good idea to place mats or runners in areas with high traffic so as to prevent the wood flooring from getting damaged. Full restoration of wood flooring is possible without having it removed and being replaced.
